Neer Dosa literally means water dosa and is a crepe made out of rice & coconut. Its one of the most popular dosa varieties of Udupi & Mangalore regions. It tastes the best with coconut chutney or curry. Neer dosa is considered a healthy breakfast option.
Ingredients to prepare Neer Dosa
Raw rice / Dosa Rice – 2 cups
Grated coconut – 1/4 cup
Water & salt – as needed (4-5 cups of water)
Method of Neer Dosa preparation
Wash and soak the raw rice, in enough water, for 4-6 hours or overnight. Drain all the water and grind it along with grated coconut and salt. Its consistency should be like low fat milk or buttermilk. Water should be added accordingly. Carefully pour ladle of batter on hot tawa and spread. Do not flip and cook. Fold the dosa on tawa, do not brown the dosa. It is served hot with coconut chutney or curry.
Children love the crispy version of this neer dosa and goes very well with Chicken Sukka.
