Goli baje in Tulu or Mangalore Bajji is an Indian fried food made from various flours and curd. Other names for the dish include Mangalore bonda, Mysore bonda. They are light brown, crispy on the outside and light, fluffy on the inside and are generally paired with coconut chutney or other spicy variety of chutney like tomato chutney, onion chutney or pudina/mint chutney. They can also be eaten plain without any accompaniment when hot. 

Goli baje is commonly eaten as an evening tea-time snack and is available in almost all eateries in Tulunadu region.

Ingredients & Process to make Goli baje 

The main ingredients used to make this dish include all purpose flour (Maida), curd, gram flour, rice flour, chopped onion, coriander leaves, coconut, jeera, green chillies, curry leaves, and salt. The ingredients are thoroughly mixed to form a hard batter and set aside for a couple of hours. It is shaped into a small ball (table tennis ball size) and deep fried, preferably in coconut oil. The dish is usually served hot with coconut chutney when its still hot & crispy.
